Military Operations Beyond War (MOOTW) focuses on preventing war, resolving conflicts, promoting peace, and supporting civilian authorities in responding to domestic crises. The phrase and acronym was coined by the United States military during the 1990s, but has since fallen out of favor. The UK military has created a similar or alternative term, Peace Support Operations (PSO). Both MOOTW and PSO cover peacekeeping, peacebuilding, peacebuilding and peacebuilding.
